This month’s Film Florida Quarterly meeting took place in Orlando, Florida. The film commissioner of the Emerald Coast Film Commission, Gail Morgan, traveled the short trip from the Emerald Coast to the event and brought back an array of educational insights beneficial to all in the industry.
A highlight of events from the quarterly meeting in Orlando.
The meeting took place from Wednesday, December 7 through Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort. Most of the meetings were also held at this Universal Orlando Resort.
On Wednesday, all guests were invited to partake in the Women in Film & Television- Florida (WIFT-FL) Jingle Mingle. The 15th Annual Jingle Mingle took place at the Universal City Walk’s Red Coconut Club and was an excellent opportunity to mingle with other entertainment industry professionals. WIFT-FL is an organization passionate about “building positive images of media-makers (both women and men), empowering them to achieve their highest professional/creative potential, and helping create more job opportunities throughout the State of Florida” (www.womeninfilmfl.org/page-18057).
Thursday’s meetings led out with the Film Commissioner’s Council chaired by Gail Morgan. The day held the Strategic Futures Committee meeting and then later that afternoon the Legislative Committee met to discuss critical topics for the Florida film industry. As always, the meetings and opportunities brought to light through the Film Florida Quarterly Meeting continue to help grow the film industry in Florida.
