In March, Film Florida hosted its quarterly meeting in Tallahassee, Florida. Our very own Emerald Coast Film Commissioner, Gail Morgan, was present for the event. This year unlike years past, Film Florida is not pursuing a traditional incentive bill with the state legislature. Instead the top priority for Film Florida is to fight HB 7005. This proposed bill would not only close the Florida Office of Film and Entertainment but also put an end to the Entertainment Industry Sales Tax Exemption program. It is of utmost importance to keep the message that Florida is a go-to location for film, television, and digital media projects alive and well.
Let’s keep the Florida Film industry booming!
The Film Florida team made it a point to meet with legislators and hand deliver hundreds of letters of support to Senator Latvala and Governor Scott. As we continue to fight for our film industry, we need as much support as possible. Whether it’s through social media or letters to legislators, staying engaged is more important than ever.
